“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some Passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou

Passion: African dancing
Passion is a loving energy that creates a healthy, strong, and joyous affection internally. It manifests on the exterior. I am mesmerized by the manifestations of one operating in passion! There is power in passion. When I’m operating in my passion, I am truly happy to dedicate my time and best efforts to this creativity that gives me so much joy. I anticipate exploring its depth. I have found that time travels and I wonder where it went! Better than that, when I am in motion, carrying out the tasks to manifest my passion, it doesn’t feel like work. It feels more like a kid at play. Most of all, my passion keeps me evolving.

Passion: Traveling the Civil Rights trail, among other places. This time, with son, Kwami, in Washington DC marching
From my viewpoint, only a small number of people are operating in their passion. A large number of us have chosen what seems practical; to seek employment; to merely survive, while our passion lays dormant. The hours put towards making a living leaves less hours to perfect what fuels us the most. Due to exhaustion, we put passion on the back burner and rarely act upon it. Due to systems of oppression and mental road blocks, some do not know what passion is. Some feel it is foolish to operate in their passion, when it does not comply with the economic system of today. In other words, they are convinced it does not put food on the table, so why bother with it. They learn to love what they are doing, not what naturally motivates them.

I believe operating in your passion provides a surplus of abundance in all areas of life. It contributes to a higher quality of life. For example, your life expectancy rate would increase. There is less stress because you are doing what naturally stimulates you and harms no one. The force behind passion is a way maker! Imagine a planet where everyone operated in their passion in harmony with one another. There would be no pressure to survive. Instead there would be sound minds creating miraculous gifts that moved the planet and human evolution forward and not one step back!
It takes a great deal of courage to pursue your passion. You are an intelligent source of energy. Make the choice to pursue your passion. One thing… I would never want to die full of passion that I never pursued, due to fear. Take the first step today! Go within and find that hobby that floods your heart with joy!
