Malika Jackson is an artist living and working in Chicago, Illinois
Her works have been exhibited at galleries, festivals and exhibitions. She recently matriculated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a MFA. Completed a six month residency at the Hyde Park Art Center – THE CENTER PROGRAM; received a commission for the Ronald McDonald Houses’ tribute to the Ryder Cup Tournament held in Chicago; recent exhibits – The Cliff Dwellers, Chicago State University, ‘Fast Forward, Rewind’ (Hyde Park Art Center); ‘OFF CENTER’-Gallery Show; ‘From the Earth (Woman Made Gallery); D’Estee and Cultural Connection Art Shows, and the Woodshop Gallery (Chicago), Noyes Gallery (Evanston), Museum of Science and Industry (Black Creativity), South Side Community Art Center, Artropilis (Chicago-Merchandise Mart), and numerous other venues.

Awards include, honorable mention, Museum of Science & Industry, honored by the ‘Disaporal Rhythms Art Association’, art grant from the City of Chicago, design awards-Ann Brooks and Fur International Awards. Commission for public art work through the city of Chicago (Suite Home Chicago).
Malika has been featured in the film ‘Curators of Dixon’, directed by Pamela Sherrod-Anderson; and ‘Producing Local Color’-Art Network in Ethnic Chicago’, book by Diane Grams. Art work recently showcased on the cover of South Shore Current magazine.
Malika has taught in the Chicago Public Schools, Charter School and various community organizations.
Malika received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute, and further studies at Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois

Malika Jackson
As a visual historian critical issues such as racial strife and societal divide guide my work. Through clay, paint and wood I convey stories of serenity, faith, and hope, interpreting mood, feeling and emotion. Through the elements of form and movement I create a spiritually aesthetic connection with clay and wood. In my paintings, as well as with clay and wood the female figure, in its various modalities is my focus. Through these, I create various interpretative expressions of stylized realism.
I want to stir the conscience, change thinking and start conversations towards a more understanding and accepting world. My work is my voice, to impact and emotionally move an audience, not only for now, but for perpetuity.
