I tell anyone willing to listen that James Gayles is my second cousin. Originally from Newark, NJ, he lived many years in Oakland, CA and now lives in Nevada. They have this artist "Gem" to teach his watercolor mastery, showcase his work, and learn from his technique. He currently teaches watercolor classes at the Nevada Museum of Art, and said he is working on the album cover for a jazz/blues artist, Dynamic Faye Carroll aas well as doing street art.
Despite being a busy Emmy Award-winning artist who has showcased his work globally and collaborated with renowned artists on several books, James has also appeared in Garden Spices. When I requested to feature his work in this Anniversary Issue, he responded, "I'd be delighted." So, let's open the gate to James (Juno) Gayles, beginning with a biographical sketch from Coffee Talks with Ace. Victorine
