The Positive Power of You: Resist Against or Resist Toward?

When we think of resisting, we often imagine opposing ideas, policies, or laws. Unfortunately, resistance can sometimes lead to violence and destruction, with tragic consequences. Given the divisive and dangerous political and social environment we are currently experiencing, it's no surprise that resistance is overflowing into almost every aspect of our daily lives.
What does resistance look like? Is it protesting in the streets or at the voting booth? Is it arguing in the office or at the dining table? Is it writing letters, emails, and making calls to our representatives? Is it cutting off contact with family and friends who have different viewpoints? Is it boycotting products and brands that support opposing views? Are these methods effective, and if so, do they inspire lasting change or just temporary appeasement?
If we understand how vibrational energy works, we realize that what we are fighting against becomes more powerful as we continue to exert a hardline focus on those things we oppose. I am not saying we should ignore those things; however, from my point of view, some of the most effective resistance is a hard-line focus on moving forward.
You may be thinking, ' What in the world am I talking about, and have I lost my ever-loving mind? ' That remains to be determined. In the meantime, let me explain.
To move forward, I feel we should focus on implementing the changes we want to see. We all know our problems, but what steps can we take to make a difference? By directing our energy towards solutions, we empower positive change rather than dwelling on the issues. First, we must recognize the problems and redirect our focus to actions promoting our desired outcomes. I'll be the first to admit that redirection feels overwhelming and daunting in our current divisive environment.
Division is the most destructive force we face today. The lack of communication between differing viewpoints is wrapped in anger from all directions, making it impossible for anyone to truly listen.
Our bodies trigger a natural fight-or-flight response when we hear or see someone yelling or speaking angrily. We tense up, adrenaline rushes, and our thoughts focus on defense. In this state, true communication is impossible. Instead, we end up defending our position without considering knowledge, compassion, or understanding.
This point is where the most powerful changes can begin to take place. After processing the situation emotionally, we can ask, 'What now?'
Does that mean seeking ways to privately fund libraries so that history remains available? I don't know, but it is a thought forward.
Does that mean actively supporting candidates who are willing to stand up and fight for our rights and freedoms?
Does that mean starting podcasts where all ideas can be presented and heard, and solutions talked about instead of who is wrong?
Does that mean gathering supplies and donating to any local food, clothes, housing, and lodging supplemental programs for those needing assistance?
Does that mean supporting local businesses that promote diversity because federal assistance will be sparse and unattainable for many?
Does that mean genuinely talking to each other about what is important instead of what is happening, not out of anger but through loving movement and compassion?
Pete Buttigieg exemplifies forward resistance. In a 3-hour podcast with a right-wing host, they discussed their goals without anger or propaganda. They found common ground and broke down barriers, allowing viewers to hear unfiltered ideas and hopes. By the end, they agreed on many points, showing that understanding and positive change are possible.
Our lives and livelihoods depend on resisting harmful and destructive practices. While it's essential to resist initially, we must also know when to move into resistance forward to avoid staying stuck in a fight-or-flight mode without making any forward movement.
