I designed and made this absolutely crazy looking cloth doll, and then wrote a silly little poem to go with her picture in the book. It I designed and made this absolutely crazy looking cloth doll, and then wrote a silly little poem to go with her picture in the book. It described just how I was feeling and saw myself at the time. Basically, I was trying to laugh to keep from cryin'! -

Seasoned
I'm hot, and I'm cold
I'm rich, and I'm old
I'm black, and I'm white
No longer am I scared to talk back or to fight
My body ain't quite stacked as high as it was
And it takes more work now for him to give me a buzz
My breasts hang way down over my tummy, that's round
An’ when I yank off this bra…the girls are hittin' the ground
My trunk is packed full, with some wear and some tear
It rolls and it ripples…’cause it just don't care
My stretch pants are lumpy, with some bumps from the trail
But it still gets some whistles, from wise ones who like tail
The front flap won't fasten so tight anymore
That thought used to pierce me, right straight to the core
But now… it just helps me weed out the ones who are bores
Although things aren't quite like they once used to be
And sometimes I need four eyes, just so I can see
It sure feels REAL good, with his hand up past my knee
Oh No Lawd’, not now....Do I have to Pee!

Her latest book, “Confessions from the Cloth”, is a book of soft-spoken poetic words, stories and pictures that bridge her art with lyric. In the logical next step in her evolution, she enhanced the book by following up with an audio album by the same name, lifting the written words off the pages and making them come alive, spoken beautifully to music in her own voice.
Ms. Cobb was born in Philadelphia and is a graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Clothing and Textiles. Before moving to the Atlanta area and evolving into a full-time artist, she taught at The Art Institute of Philadelphia for twelve years.
