What a tricky subject – a lot has been written on this subject. Many different opinions from none to 100% regarding our ability to choose. As a wellness coach, this subject truly intrigues me and I have done a great deal of research and study about it Like many who have come before me, I have drawn my own personal conclusions.
While I am definitely an advocate of the position that we do have a wide range of choice available to us – I also subscribe to the notion that this freedom is limited. My definition of the limitations, however, is fairly different than mainstream thoughts on the subject.
As most of you know, who read this magazine, I have much study and many certifications in a wide range of areas. My first love and still my greatest fascination lies with the study of astrology. Astrology has helped me in innumerable ways – offering ideas about patterns, cycles, life journeys, “as above, so below”. It has also helped me to recognize limitations for you and me.
Let me explain – the blueprint of astrology is set in a 360-degree circle – 360 degrees of life possibility. Within the circle, depending on your time, date and place of birth a pattern of planetary energies emerges that is one’s personal mandala for life this time around. During one’s life, outside influences (transits) and inside influences (progressions) help to alter our understanding, experience, and knowledge. But, the fact remains, that your life is bound by this initial pattern.
While at first glance, this seems simplistic, reductionist and basically unfair – after all don’t we hear all the time that we are unlimited and can do anything – our human condition doesn’t allow for us to be conscious of all the possibilities around us. Physically, we just don’t have the hardware (body) or software (brain/heart) to accomplish this task. As a believer in past lives*and future lives, I think we choose what we want to work on this time around and the chart is a road map of where we can travel. From the standpoint of free will, it’s up to us how we choose to travel this path we have chosen.
So there it is my friends – a considerable simplification of freedom of choice and astrology. May it be of some benefit to you and yours – Ashay and Amen
