Keep Shining

There were times I wished I were a bird soaring high,

Touching the clouds,

Reaching the blue skies,

Taking in the world with a bird’s eye view.

There were times I wished I were a towering tree flaunting my green beauty,

Swaying with the breeze,

Breathing out life’s oxygen,

Offering shelter and safety.

There were times I wished I were the sun, shining through life with yellow rays,

Embracing everyone I met,

Painting the skies with splendor,

Encouraging others to shine.

There were times I wished I were the moon, so bright and inviting,

A haven for lovers’ embrace,

Smiling through the seasons,

Showing off my changing shapes.

There were times I wished I was the stars, illuminating life,

Creating dazzling patterns,

Dancing around the moon,

Connecting in constellations.

All that I wished, I became.
