“Don’t get it twisted, the liquor in these glasses is from the steeped leaves of tea. I am on a campaign to make my community aware of tea as a healthy option for alcohol. Tea excites the senses and enhances wakeful tranquility. It also is a beverage of social engagements and peaceful exchanges. When was the last time you heard someone argue while sipping on some Oolong or any variety of tea? It’s something to think about.” – Yasir Khalid
I met Yasir Khalid through this very post, spilling the tea on this wonderful beverage. His passion about tea greets us almost daily. I thought you should meet him and his magical blend of tea consciousness that highlights his business/mission, After the Rain Teaz. Welcome to the Garden Spices family, Yasir Khalid. Gate open. – Victorine
“Good morning Tea lovers, another day for a daily retreat with tea. Last night I was cleaning out my Tea chest and found buried this prized Darjeeling Black Tea. Darjeeling is considered to be the “Champagne of Tea”. The name is derived from the region in India where it is grown. India has three major
Tea-producing regions: Assam, Darjeeling and Nilgiri. This Tea has so many attributes, its fruity(apricot Peach flavor), vegetal, mossy, and citrusy. Its aromatics send muscatel notes to the retronasal olfactory pathways. This Tea is ,great to start the morning with.“In researching the history of tea, I was made aware that at one time in history only the aristocrats and the elite class were able to gain access to any type of tea legally. This was primarily because of ,the extremely high cost of tea and the belief that only the Petty Bourgeoisie should be privy to a beverage of such distinction. Today, many people are becoming more health conscious than ever before, and many people are recognizing the many benefits of tea. There’s a quote that says, “Before tea became a beverage, it was a medicine.” – Yasir Khalid
“Tea is a lifestyle for me. I have a deep passion for this beverage, it’s like a companion to me. I try to drink tea every single day and read about it on a regular basis. …I’m fascinated by how a plant can have so much influence on health and culture. The process of how this evergreen shrub known as Camellia sinensis goes from the soil to the cup is absolutely astounding.” After the Rain Teaze
“Greetings Tea Lovers; I pray everyone is doing well on this rather cool Saturday morning. I hope you are up early and receiving the abundance of blessings that are associated with the predawn. This morning I’m sipping on some Lao Cha Tou Ripe Pu-erh tea. I guess it’s apropos for me since everyone calls me Pops

“Good morning, Tea Lovers, understanding of on this chilly morning. Just dropping into your sacred place for a couple of seconds. I want to share with you a couple of thoughts I have about Tea. Tea is more than sipping on the liquor of steeped leaves. To approach the fullest of understanding, you often have to connect to the soil and the farmer who tilled the soil. An excellent way of doing that is by examining the leaves. This morning I’m drinking Kenyan Earl Grey and African Breakfast tea, and as you can see in the caption, I have the spent leaves from both. Although, I’m not in Kenya I’m connecting to its soil (soul), its climate and the farmer through the leaves. And by the way both of these Teas are excellent.”

My name is Yasir Khalid, I am the owner of After The Rain Teaze Tea Company. A brief sketch of my history: I’m from Dothan, Alabama; I grew up there and attend schools through high school in Dothan. After high school, I attended Tuskegee Institute back in the day. I’ve lived in several cities in the US, including Oakland, California, Denver, Colorado, Seatle, Washington, I also have traveled to several Countries around the world including Morocco, England, Africa, and Italy, I lived in Italy for two years. Currently, I reside in The Metro Washington DC area. I got involved with purveying Tea in 2011 after attending Tea training at a World Tea Expo. The one single thing that prompted my interest in Tea outside of its known health benefits was that I could find high-quality Teas in my community. I believe that premium Teas should be available to everyone. Tea has been around for over 5000 years, albeit in small obscure quarters initially. Tea is the number one consumed beverage in the world next to water. Before Tea was a beverage, it was known as a medicine. My campaign in terms of Tea is to promote it as an integral part of healthy living.
