HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Loved Ones,

In this issue, we have affirmed how we will enter this New Year. We will seek self-love and a way to actualize our topic: Comfort. I chose our feature image from a past issue of Garden Spices. For me, it reflects the realities of the day: we may be bruised and traumatized by the world's actions, and actions we choose to take, but we find a way to grow our flowers, sometimes by seeking the comfort of others, always anchored in love.

A Gospel icon, Richard Smallwood, recently made his transition. One of the songs his choir sings is "Angels Watching Over Me." I affirmed this song throughout a tumultuous year for my family, friends, and the world. It brought/brings me comfort.

But how safe is comfort? Does it lull us into a life that keeps us in a box, preventing us from expanding and growing? Several contributors challenge our sense of awareness as we explore the concept of comfort. Throughout this issue, you will discover that our Contributors define their comfort in various ways: human understanding, awareness, creativity, smells, animals, and transformation.

We invite you to reflect on your sense of comfort and how it shapes your life. We also invite you to experience our expressions of art, cuisine, and style.

Gate open!
