The tranquility in my life has benefited me greatly because those times have provided the freedom to evaluate and plan improvements. Times of quietness seem to let one’s mind ponder the past and look forward to a brighter future.

My very first notion of tranquility came from the word being used in the United States Declaration of Independence. While I did not know the definition of the word, it sounded like something that was going to be good for all citizens.

Perhaps "tranquilize," a word I was familiar with, was the similar term that helped me grasp the meaning of "tranquility." It involves moving from calming an individual to soothing a large or small situation. This shows that I spent a lot of time reflecting as a young person.

The word, to me, has a noble or formal sound, like a blessing of some sort. Periods of tranquility in my life have allowed my body and mind to reset for future challenges.

It is awesome to witness others experience periods in their life when it is obvious they are at peace. In fact, some people seem to be in constant states of serenity because of their advanced consciousness.

It has been hard for me to sustain periods of calm due to the ongoing realities of life, especially since the advent of the 24-hour news cycle. I quit binge-watching news several years ago when NBC used a FOX News story without vetting it; a short while later, it proved to be untrue.

Now I do my best to let periods of peaceful tranquility last as long as possible.
