My son, Marlon Hayes, started writing a book titled the absence of years a few years ago. I knew it would be about some guys who had served in the service during the Vietnam conflict. I didn't know anything else. The book was released about three weeks ago and I ordered my copy. He actually brought the book to my house within a couple of days. After reading the dedication, I teared up. I started reading and began thinking about how he tied up stories that maybe he had heard or talked to different guys and intertwined his thoughts.
For the next couple of weeks, he would call me. And sometimes, during the call, he would ask me questions about the book or where I was in the book. I told him I was not doing a Q&A, so don't ask me anything. Then, I would give a thought. I wish people who are no longer with us could have been able to read the book. It gives a different perspective on things that may or may not have happened. I finished the Absence of Years and put it on my list of books I will read again. I recommend it for those of you who are looking for a book that will hold your interest or especially live during those years.
P.S. Do not give your phone# to MARLON S. HAYES because he may call you for a Q&A!! LOL!!
