My visit to Thailand found my niece, Garnet Basley, creating art at the age of 5. Exposed to her mom's art of cooking and her dad's photography, Garnet, Gigi, was bound to find her way to creativity, as illustrated by the above image.

Gigi's sketch of Sunthorn Phu. It is believed that he was born as the Thai Shakespeare. He wrote many novels during the reign of King Rama III.

Of course, Gigi is encouraged to keep creating art, but right now, basketball and hip-hop dancing take center stage. Still, Garden Spices plans to follow her artistic journey—and if her tools return to the canvas, we’ll be sure to share the results.
