"A word to the wise should be sufficient.”

I have a blog. I’m an elder activist. What do I do amidst the atmosphere of Kirk craziness? How do I respond to the adulation and condemnation of this Charlie Kirk, who used his voice as the First Amendment allows? I ain’t mad at him for speaking his truth. The president and his administration do the same thing. Here’s the caveat: Words have power!

From every sage to senator, words have ignited emotions, spiraling into movements for peace, justice, liberty, and war; however, in today’s society, civil discourse is seldom seen. Consequently, in my case, I want to use my words wisely. What?!

When to Speak Up/When to Shut Up

When the Kirk upheaval began, I told Mr. K’s family I was on Facebook debating. They asked, “Why bother?” I answered, “That’s what I do.” And it’s true. I drive several groups on Facebook (yes, most seniors still use this platform), and when I read something that aligns with or contradicts my sensibilities, I comment. Lately, I will say what invokes my immediate response is when someone brings up the “C” word, Christianity.

When I read someone ascribe a Christ walk to a person, they better come with some heat—not “He or she is Godly,” or that they claim to be Christian. I read and quote from many ascended masters, but because I subscribe to and run my mouth the most about the walk of the Christ, I can’t help but ask the claimant to do several things:

Read about and compare their subjects’ teachings to the walk of the Christ—the stuff about feeding the poor, hanging out with beggars and thieves, admonishing the Pharisees and Sadducees, throwing out money changers, confiding in Mary (a WOMAN), inclusivity, (Samaritan), transfiguration. Hmmm… I haven’t read anything about sexual preference, only about the two most important commandments—Love God and your neighbor as you would yourself.

I issue two invitations

1) to actually research and begin to think critically for themselves and

2) I say something about holding the consciousness for peace with global participation at 1 PM each day. I invite them to do the same daily. (Where two or more gather…)

Guess what? My comment either elicits a positive response or no response at all. And no response is just fine with me. I’ll take the silence as golden.

Word Up!

I know my voice is important because folks “Like” or “Love” what I say. So, are my posts all about my ego? I hate to admit it, but sometimes they are. But the question I’m asking this moment is, are my words raising or lowering the frequency? I guess I’m asking y’all to ask the same question of yourselves. What?!

Mr. K. contends that Kirk needed an elder to debate him, and I’m not so sure he’s wrong. Although the young’uns have the debate cadence down to a science, they do not have the experience or wisdom we have. Whatever your advocacy, choose your words wisely. We have so much to contribute to the universe. And guess what? As usual, actions speak louder than words.
