How did you become interested in fashion?
My interest in Fashion started when my mom made dresses for her four daughters every Sunday and told us to choose our style from a magazine or pattern catalog. I always chose the low-waisted shift dress! To this day, it's still my go-to LBD because what's old is new again, and simplicity is high-end. Years later, I cultivated signature looks in New York for the MTV generation, which led to a decision-making position in Fashion Forecasting.
After this, my friend won the Miss Universe Pageant, and she hired me as her Manager and Buyer for a prize-winning Boutique in Trinidad. This included makeup, jewelry, shoes, and other items, as well as worldwide purchasing and collaboration with the Miss Universe Brand.
In conclusion, I spent the last 20 years working with the quintessential Designer, Donna Karan, under the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessey umbrella.
What brought you to Chattanooga?
My husband and I decided to relocate to Chattanooga as COVID-19 raged in NYC. I took my Certified Image and Fashion Consultancy here.
What inspires you when you're curating for a fashion shoot?
First, I simplify the concept and then blow it up to the chicest extreme to set the 'mood' or 'vibe,' always with a twist, because I see myself as a Fashion historian.
What are some of the creative activities that you've been involved in since you've been in Chattanooga?
I hit the ground running here after I arrived in 2022 with the '90s Vintage Fashion Show for the Inaugural Chattanooga Fashion Expo, which was a complete success for my first outing. I recruited and taught all my models, who I called my 'Runway Rebels' for Runway Modeling. The Hunter Museum hired me in early 2024 to curate the fashion version of the current exhibit at the time. I have done seven shows so far.
I recently participated in a fashion panel Q&A with The Chattery. I curated an entire Fashion Show for NNHS (Northside Neighborhood House) as part of a Committee member of a non-profit organization that gives back to the community.
What are some upcoming events that you have in the works?
On May 17th & 18th, I'm hosting my 'VA Va VINTAGE Pop-up.
I am very excited to be directing a photoshoot next week and curating a Shoe Fashion Show for the Hunter Museum's upcoming Exhibit, "Walk This Way," on June 26th.
